That Summer

By amanda.mountainfever@gmail.com

“That Summer is one of the very few covers we’ve ever decided to record, and for good reason,” shares lead vocalist and guitarist Jesse Eisenbise. “Wade and I have always had a deep appreciation for '90s country music—it was a huge part of our musical upbringing and really shaped who we are as artists. That era of country had this raw honesty and storytelling that still hits home today. Garth Brooks, in particular, was one of those artists who stood out not just for his voice, but for the energy, emotion, and sheer presence he brought to his music. Covering one of his songs isn’t something we took lightly—it’s both a tribute to the music that helped raise us and a way for us to bring a little of that influence into the world of bluegrass, through our own lens.”

Colebrook Road’s signature sound shines through on “That Summer” with Jesse Eisenbise on guitar and a rich lead vocal, Jeff Campbell on bass and harmony vocals, Mark Rast on banjo, Joe McAnulty on fiddle, and Wade Yankey on mandolin. The result is a heartfelt and high-energy interpretation that blends the emotional depth of the original with the drive and finesse of modern bluegrass.
