Ten O’Clock Town

From his first solo album, Born at the End of the Line (coming April 9, 2026), Minnesota-based singer/songwriter Tom Peschges proudly presents “Ten O’Clock Town.”

On a recent trip to Nashville, Tom recalls an Uber driver who spoke nostalgically about how his town had grown so big, so quickly, saying, “This used to be a ten o’clock town.” Quick to recognize a good hook, Tom knew immediately he wanted to write the song and promptly brought the idea to a writing session with award-winning veteran songwriter and frequent collaborator Tim Stafford. The pair quickly crafted a story of longing for simpler times and lamenting the inevitability of change. Blending Tom’s gift for storytelling with Tim’s finely honed ability to craft the perfect melody to carry the message home, this is a tune you’ll find yourself humming long after it ends.

Recorded at Riverborne Creations aboard the Joyful Noise riverboat studio in St. Paul, “Ten O’Clock Town” was produced by Peter Borne, whose years of experience and first-class facility brought many wonderful production elements to the song. Harmony vocals provided by Nathan Fjeld, Mabel Houle, and Peter Borne set the tone, and Ken Wilson’s steel guitar was exactly the right finishing touch.
In a happy accident, Tom had Peter isolate the harmony vocals to listen for a possible mistake. There was no mistake — but hearing the four voices a cappella like that was so powerful that Tom said, “We have to find a way to work that into the song.” A quick copy and paste later, it became the cold a cappella intro.
