Taste of Life

Mighty Cord Records is proud to announce the release of “Taste of Life,” the new single from Nashville songstress Val Storey. The song is now available to radio programmers via Airplay Direct and Hope River Entertainment.
“I heard ‘Taste of Life,’ a song Leona Williams wrote over 25 years ago, and instantly fell in love with it,” said Storey. “I’m so honored that she gave me her blessing to record it. Larry Cordle, who produced the track, pulled in just the right musicians, and his harmony vocals gave it exactly what it needed. It’s one of my favorite things I’ve ever recorded. The lyrics remind me of a simpler time – family, faith, and prayers spoken over us by our mothers and grandparents. Knowing Jesus was at the center of it all, and that’s what made life so much sweeter.”
“Taste of Life” was produced by Cordle, who also provides harmony vocals. Fans may recognize the pairing from their weekly Monday night performances at Nashville’s legendary The Station Inn. The track was engineered by Chris Latham and features an all-star lineup of musicians: Cody Kilby (acoustic guitar), Andy Leftwich (mandolin), Scott Vestal (banjo), Dennis Crouch (bass), and Jeneè Fleenor (fiddle).
Cordle said, “This song was sent to us by the great Leona Williams, who wrote the song, and it was among the first songs Val sent for me to listen to. I was in love with it from the first time I heard it. We both knew immediately that it was the kind of song and type of Bluegrass we were interested in creating. We got a crack band together, and Val’s performance of this song about how different life is when one is a child is breathtaking. I just know Bluegrass fans are going to embrace Val. She possesses a voice made to sing this music.”
“Taste of Life” delivers a heartfelt message rooted in faith, family, and tradition—offering listeners a warm reminder of what truly matters.
