Song for Nez

By cleebaber1@gmail.com

“Nez” in “Song for Nez” refers to singer-songwriter and video pioneer Michael Nesmith.

Lee Baber was inspired to write this song the weekend of Nesmith’s passing.

He first encountered Nesmith’s cosmic country rock while watching “The Monkees” on WRET-TV in Charlotte in the 1970’s. You’ll hear a snippet of an actual promo from the tv station at the top of the song.

Daniel Beachy’s pedal steel is a tribute to Nesmith sideman- Red Rhodes.
