the latest single from two-time IBMA Male Vocalist of the Year Buddy Melton. Penned by Milan Miller,
the song tells the tale of a restless traveler who discovers that fulfillment isn’t found at the end of the
road, but in the never-ending journey.
Anchored by Buddy’s unmistakable lead vocal and upright bass,
the recording features an all-star lineup of bluegrass talent,
including Sam Bush (mandolin), Jerry Douglas (dobro),
Aubrey Haynie (fiddle), Stephen Mougin (acoustic guitar),
Milan Miller (harmony vocals), and Bennett Sullivan (banjo).
Since launching his solo career last year, Melton has been
busy in the studio creating a new body of work that honors
the sound fans have come to love while expanding his musical
horizons through collaborations with bluegrass legends,
award-winning musicians, and longtime friends. Following the
chart success of Blue Skies and Gone, Some Other Small Town offers another compelling preview
of this exciting new chapter. Bluegrass radio programmers can expect the top-level songwriting,
world-class musicianship, and authentic delivery that have made Buddy Melton one of the genre’s

During his eighteen-year tenure with Balsam Range, Buddy was the
voice behind multiple #1 songs and performed on some of the most
prestigious stages in the country, including the Grand Ole Opry,
Telluride Bluegrass Festival, and Merlefest. The group received
countless awards from the IBMA, including multiple trophies for
Entertainer of the Year, Vocal Group of the Year, Album of the Year,
and Song of the Year. On an individual level, Buddy was named Male
Vocalist of the Year by the IBMA in 2014 and 2018. In 2025, Buddy
received the prestigious North Carolina Governor’s Award for
excellence and contributions in the fine arts, joining the ranks of
James Taylor, Doc Watson, Andy Griffith, and many other iconic
entertainers.
