Poor Billy

By boombaysafire@gmail.com

"Poor Billy" is really a courtin’ song stripped down and gone awry. Writing the song took on a whimsical feel as each of the courtin’ boys met their demise at the hands of the protagonist, Pa. With high standards and them failing to measure up it was heading south even before it started. In reality, no suitors were harmed in the making of the song. When asked about the song Boom says “It escalates quickly and doesn’t end well for most of the characters. But life is about taking chances so there you go.” One fan said, “You got me to care about three guys named Billy, Kenny, and Teddy. I was rooting for them.” Alas, it’s the age-old story of the wrong girl, wrong time.

Sample of Lyrics:
Poor Billy came a courtin
Down the lane one summer day
And Pa saw him a comin
So in the ground is where he lay

That boy didn’t meet the standards
For Pa to let him stay
So once he came a courtin
In the ground where is where he lays
