Morning Green

Multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, and 28-year Bluegrass DJ Alex Leach is proud to release his brand new original single, “Morning Green,” a warm and reflective composition built for the long days of summer. The track marks the first release in a new collection of original music Leach has been writing, producing, and recording over the past several months all while touring full-time as guitarist and tenor singer in Wyatt Ellis’s Bluegrass Band.
“‘Morning Green’ is the first of many original songs I am so proud to share with everyone,” says Alex. “I feel like my songwriting has taken a very personal direction over the last couple of years, and I have really been pouring my soul into everything I put on paper. To me, singing a song that I have created myself just fuels the energy to put my heart into every note I play and sing, and I hope the listener can feel that when they listen.”
The single brings together a tight circle of collaborators who know Leach’s sound from the inside out. Wyatt Ellis lends his mandolin to the track, Leach’s wife Miranda contributes rich harmony vocals, and Noah Goebel rounds out the arrangement with soulful triple fiddles that call back to the golden era of Longview, evoking the kind of fiddle work Glen Duncan was known for on that band’s classic recordings.
“Morning Green” is a natural extension of the artistry Leach has spent a lifetime building. He got his start at just nine years old as a Bluegrass disc jockey on East Tennessee’s legendary WDVX, and in the years since has performed everywhere from festival stages to the Grand Ole Opry. That deep, hands-on relationship with the music, as a broadcaster, picker, singer, and songwriter stepping further into his own voice, shapes every part of this new single, and the collection of original recordings that will follow it.
For Leach, the song is less about fitting into a tradition than continuing to live inside one, while making room for something new. It’s a mountain-music sensibility filtered through a personal lens: unhurried, plainspoken, and unmistakably his own.
