Following the overwhelming success of their Turnberry Records debut, “You Made It Right,” which reached the top of the bluegrass radio charts, The Larry Stephenson Band returns with a fresh interpretation of the beloved bluegrass classic “Lizzie Lou”. Originally recorded by The Osborne Brothers and written by legendary songwriting team Boudleaux and Felice Bryant, “Lizzie Lou” is available to radio now via Get It Played.
With their unmistakable blend of bluegrass instrumentation, soaring harmonies, and Larry Stephenson’s signature tenor vocal, The Larry Stephenson Band breathes new life into the classic while honoring the spirit that made it a favorite among bluegrass fans for decades.
“‘You Made It Right’ was an incredible way to begin our relationship with Turnberry Records,” said Stephenson. “The response from bluegrass radio exceeded our expectations, and we wanted the next release to continue celebrating the music that has inspired us throughout our careers. ‘Lizzie Lou’ is another great song from The Osborne Brothers catalog and Sonny Osborne actually suggested years ago that I record it, but I never did until now. Sorry, Sonny! I think he’d approve and especially Derek Vaden’s wonderful banjo playing. The Osborne Brothers have always been heroes of mine, so it’s an honor to revisit one of their great recordings.”
Since forming his own band in 1989, Larry Stephenson has built a reputation as one of bluegrass music’s premier vocalists and one of its most faithful torchbearers of traditional sound. Throughout a career spanning more than four decades, he has consistently delivered recordings that honor the music’s rich heritage while remaining fresh and relevant to today’s audiences.
