Her Name Is

Rather than recreating the original honky-tonk recording, Feinstein and producer Jake Eddy approached the song from a different angle. By stripping it down and reworking it in a bluegrass setting, the focus shifts squarely to Braddock’s storytelling — particularly the tension, restraint, and weight carried by the song’s unspoken details.
“The question wasn’t if I would record a George Jones song, but how,” says Feinstein. “We took ‘Her Name Is’ off the honky-tonk floor and brought it to the front porch. The bluegrass treatment puts the story right out in the open and gives a different kind of urgency to that last line.”
The recording features Kenny Feinstein on fiddle and lead vocals, with Jake Eddy on guitar, Carter Eddy on bass, Ron Stewart on banjo, and Josh Gooding on mandolin.
