Give Me A Trail

“When I discovered TikTok, I originally went there hoping to connect with more bluegrass people, but I quickly found myself posting my animals nonstop,” laughs Hughes. “I wrote ‘Give Me A Trail’ specifically to have the right music for my trail-riding videos because there seemed to be a shortage of trail songs.
“I’ve had horses all my life. My cousins and I spent our summers riding the trails we made through the woods on the back of my Grandpa’s farm, which is now mine. We’d ride longer than a grownup workday, and I’m surprised we didn’t set up a fake time clock and pay ourselves pretend money!
“I still love getting out on those same trails. These days, I ride Belgian Draft horses, including Potato, a retired pulling horse who weighs in at 2,637 pounds, and his buddy Boo Boo. I’ve developed a real love for Belgians and have been fortunate to give several of them a good home over the years.
“‘Give Me A Trail’ is really about that feeling of getting outside and enjoying what’s around you. Whether it’s on foot, a bike or horseback, find a trail, get some fresh air and enjoy nature once in a while. Like music, it’s good for the soul!”
