Big Daddy Rabbit

By mcflamekeeper@gmail.com

Michael Cleveland, a 12-time International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) Fiddler of the Year, continues to set the standard for modern bluegrass, and alongside his band Flamekeeper, a 7-time IBMA Instrumental Group of the Year, bring that same award-winning chemistry to a joyful new instrumental, “Big Daddy Rabbit.” Featuring mandolinist Nathan Livers, who also penned the tune, the track is inspired by a nickname for Livers’ father. Bright and upbeat with lively tempo shifts, the piece unfolds like a scene you can almost see: a rabbit calmly grazing in a field before suddenly darting off as if chased, pausing in a cautious breakdown to look around, then returning to its carefree hopping as the melody kicks back in, capturing its playful spirit.
