“A Year Ago Today” was written by the late JD Hutchison and was recorded by The Hutchison Brothers back in 1975. I’ve been signing this song since the early 1980’s and always wanted to record my own version as I think its a great bluegrass song that has not been widely heard. in the spring of 2024, while visiting my friend Mike Ramsey in North Carolina, I had a special opportunity of recording my version of the song, playing mandolin and singing the lead vocals, with Mike’s son Aaron Ramsey recording us and playing guitar and my mandolin mentor from the 1970’s, Tim O’Brien, overdubbing harmony vocals. It was allot of fun and I am really grateful to Mike, Aaron, Tim, Zeke Hutchison and my wife Bonnie, for helping me get this single out into the world and get it played. I hope you like it.
