A Prayer For Us Both

By ty@shiftmusicservices.com

“A Prayer For Us Both” began with a text from a friend — “play a prayer for us both” — and unfolded into one of Old Sap’s most haunting and spontaneous creations. Written in ¾ time with uneven bars and lyrical asymmetry, the song feels both ancient and alive, like a folk prayer set adrift on shifting waters. Producer Josh Goforth compared its rhythm to Dave Brubeck, and it carries that same sense of discovery: intuitive, unpredictable, and wholly original.
It’s a song about faith in the creative unknown — a thread that runs through Old Sap’s upcoming album Marble Home.
