Way Back When

By mfreeman@rebelrecords.com

Hello Everyone,
Here it is—my latest CD for Rebel Records, Way Back When. It features some brand-new songs, a few older
favorites, and a couple of Gospel numbers to lift up the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Over the past 62 years, I’ve stayed true to my own style in both Bluegrass and Gospel music. There were three names that first laid the foundation for Bluegrass: Bill Monroe, Flatt & Scruggs, and the Stanley Brothers. I have the deepest respect for all three—they each had their own sound and identity, and I’ve always worked to keep mine as well.
There were also a few other great bands and musicians back in the day who helped shape what Bluegrass became. I’m grateful to have come up during the first generation of this music—most of whom are no longer with us. I intend to keep carrying the tradition forward and stay on that old, familiar path.
Thank you to everyone who’s stuck with me through the years.
I hope you enjoy WAY BACK WHEN.
God bless you,
Larry Sparks
